“I don’t care if you’re psychic or not, but for this job, you are a psychic.” (quote from the 1-900-PSY-CHIC job training video).

“Need answers? Get the thoughtful, confidential insight you seek for just $1/minute.” (quote from a 1-900-PSY-CHIC advertisement)

Explore the unexpected human connections that form between dial-a-psychic gig workers and the people who call for help.

Game setting: Approximately the US in the 1990’s. A time when people made phone calls from landlines and many people never used the Internet.

A no-prep game for 6-12 players in 4 hours. Players will either be psychics or callers. Psychics portray someone who has just started a new job working at a psychic hotline. Callers portray multiple different callers who phone into the psychic hotline, as well as hotline supervisors.

Players need no preparation for playing the game (and don’t need to be psychic). This is a high improv, low-mechanics game about connections despite capitalism. Caller players should bring a silent timer and a way to record/play a short audio clip (both can be done with a typical mobile phone, but looking at a wristwatch and simply repeating the phrase in your own voice also works).
